The fate of Pastis, the popular French bistro in the Meatpacking District, had been unclear since it closed its doors in February. But now owner Keith McNally says the restaurant will reopen in the neighborhood in 2016.

Restoration Hardware Holdings Inc. has signed a 15-year lease at the building that once housed Pastis. Mr. McNally said the bistro would move to a location around the corner from its original home at 9 Ninth Ave. He expects to begin building the restaurant at a Gansevoort Street location next year, aiming to open in September of 2016.

Pastis debuted in the heart of the Meatpacking District in 1999 and is considered a pioneer in the neighborhood. The joint venture of Aurora Capital Associates and William Gottlieb Real Estate is redeveloping and adding three floors to the two-story building that once housed Pastis.
