Keurig Recalls 7 Million Brewers
From the Wall Street Journal of Tue, 23 Dec 2014 07:47:34 EST

Keurig Green Mountain Inc. on Tuesday recalled more than 7 million of its single-serve brewing machines after finding that water can overheat and spray out at users.

The company said it has received 90 burn-related injury reports and about 200 reports of hot liquid escaping from the brewer overall. The Mini Plus Brewing Systems, made in China and Malaysia, have been sold at retailers including Target Corp. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. starting in 2009 for about $100. The recall covers about 6.6 million brewing systems in the U.S. and 564,000 in Canada.

Keurig is offering free repairs on the brewers.

Keurig’s sales have been boosted in recent quarters by demand for single-serve coffee packs for its brewers, which it estimates are used in 20 million U.S. households.
